True financial interoperability requires a price stable means of value exchange. Centre’s technology for fiat-backed stablecoins brings stability to crypto. The initial implementation is USDC, available as an Ethereum ERC-20, Algorand ASA, Avalanche ERC-20, Flow FT, Hedera SDK, Solana SPL, Stellar asset, and TRON TRC-20, and creating possibilities in payments, lending, investing, trading and trade finance — and the ecosystem will grow as other fiat currency tokens are added.

Following the Merge and Ethereum’s transition from a Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism to the more sustainable Proof-of-Stake (PoS), Centre and its members exclusively support the upgraded Ethereum PoS chain for USDC. Circle remains the sole issuer of USDC. Any other token claiming to be, or to be affiliated with, USDC or its members is not supported by Centre and Coinbase or redeemable by Circle. Please be vigilant for bad actors' scams & phishing attempts that encourage you to interact with unsupported assets on the ETH PoW chain.

As more goods and services are tokenized, smart contract platforms will become fundamental building blocks of value exchange. Centre’s open-source and transparent stablecoin framework allows fiat to interact with smart contracts, giving developers a viable way to use real world currencies in blockchain applications.

USDC Reserves

Circle, the sole issuer of USDC, is a licensed money transmitter and required to maintain full fiat reserves for all issued USDC. A third party reports on those holdings every month in accordance with standards set out by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
